Conjunction adalah suatu kata yang berfungsi menghubungkan dua kata, frasa (phrase), klausa (clause), atau paragraf (paragraph). Conjunction terdiri dari Addition (Penambahan), Contrast(Pertentangan atau Berlawanan), dan Result (Akibat atau Kesimpulan).
- Addition (Penambahan)
Conjunction : Furthermore, Also, Moreover, Besides, And, In addition
Example :
a. We believe that the project is possible. Furthermore, we believe that we can do it within a few months
b. Iwan was my classmate in Junior High School. Also, he is my best friend untill now
c. Smoking can be cause of many illnesses. Moreover, it may harm non - smokers
d. Anggun C Sasmi is a great singer. Besides, she is a very good judge in Indonesia's Got Talent
e. I think, she is smart and pretty
f. The office is the best building in this city because it has a large parking area, garden, and complete facilities. In addition, it is located in strategic place
- Contrast (Pertentangan atau Berlawanan)
Conjunction : Nonetheless, Nevertheless, However, Still, But, Yet
Example :
a. The boy is poor. Nonetheless, he can speak japanese
b. The tuition fee is increasing each year, nevertheless, the rector won't let the students get difficulties in their study
c. The fuel cost is rising up. However, the public transportation cost won't make any change
d. If the sun shines tomorrow, I'll go swimming. Still, maybe I'll try the new recipe in the kitchen
e. My brother is mischevous but dilligent
f. Natural resources of Indonesia spread of Sabang to Merauke. Yet, they are not utilized properly
- Result (Akibat atau Kesimpulan)
Conjunction : So, Accordingly, Therefore, Consequently, Hence
Example :
a. The weather was cold. So, Nadya wore a jacket and gloves
b. Buggati Veron are the most expensive vehicle in the world. Accordingly, I want to have one
c. The used car is very cheap. Therefore, I want to buy it
d. The worker came late. Consequently, his salary for the next month will be cut
e. She loves to read phsycology books. Hence, she is easy to understand other people
